am looking hard at getting into a New Subways Franchise, I've been looking on the Web for help starting a franchise. Also searching message boards for Subways Franchiser's, who can inform me on the do's and don'ts, items like cash flow, accounting and loans requirements and just down right is it worth the time and is there money to be made in subway
any help would be great. |

Mike:
The benefits of going with a established franchise opportunity are great compared to starting a restaurant on your own. For example, you have lenders working closely with Subway to provide financing. I found this application from Banco Popular {I think they have about 100 branches in several US States} that is used specifically to cater to new franchisees:

I even found that there are three Subways within 10 miles of my home for sale, that is a good thing to know if I wanted to take a look at doing something like that. I would prefer to go with an existing store to begin with because it would decrease my risk as to how good the location is due to the availability of historical financial information.
However, your question was is it worth the time and is there money to be made in subway? Well, sure there is
But, it will not be a gold mine unless you get one of their top performing stores. You could probably lose the investment too, but I guess you already figured out that every investment can go sour.
You should read the following article about a store owner that found success, I found it interesting:

Good luck.
P.S.: Make sure you read about the 80 hour weeks that the owner had to work for the first few months, that too me is a bit scary. You should also take a look at Quiznos. |
