April 24, 2009 Another little update is in order

Some more information

It has been a long time since my last update. If you have ever visited the website before you will notice that it is in a state of neglect. There just hasn’t been a desire in my part to pay enough attention to it in the last few years. My career in commercial banking is limited, but in the last thirteen years I have seen enough changes to keep my head spinning.

My industry has gone from one that was so competitive and growing to one in complete disarray and afraid to make a move that would make things worse. Times are changing and I have gone from working in a department of 12 people to working in a department of only five. The number of my direct reports has been reduced to two analysts and we are overwhelmed with work. However, this means I am one of the lucky ones since I still have a job and do not have to go out looking for another position that might entail taking a pay cut.

I certainly have a lot of war stories, which I guess I could put down in this website should I lose my job. Something to keep in the eternal digital storage that is the internet so that 30 years from now another risk manager can read and do not fall into the same traps.

A couple of internet advertising networks have contacted me over the last few weeks to let me know that I have been approved to run ads for their network. The funny thing is that I have never applied to their networks. The only ads that run in this website are from Google Adsense. At this moment I have no intention to apply to any other networks.

About the last two years

Some of you might have wondered where I have been the last couple of years. Well to be honest managing the website became a little bit of a pain. The forums were mildly popular, but I just did not have the time to answer the questions. To make matters worse, about 50 spammers would register on a daily basis to post links. I had to turn on the verification in the forums and that pretty much killed the forums.

Work also increased substantially, and I am happy to report that I have been promoted twice since 2005, and my work is mostly supervisory now and I rarely have to write my own analysis. I am going to try to update the site if I get a chance, but frankly the whole structure, layout and content of the site is in need of some serious work. I am not sure if I have the time to bring it up to a respectable standard.

At the very least, you will see some more of my musings posted so keep an eye out for them
